HSE Services for Contractors in South Africa
BOS Consultants focuses on practical Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) support for contractors. Our services are built around how your operation actually works on site – not just a file for the shelf. We charge per operation (one team doing one type of work), so your HSE support matches your real risk.
Monthly HSE Support (Plan A & Plan B)
Our monthly HSE support is designed for contractors who want ongoing help to stay compliant, keep clients happy and prepare for audits – without hiring a full-time Safety Officer.
We work per operation (for example: one harvesting team, one silviculture crew, one construction team), so your support follows the actual teams that are on the ground.
- WhatsApp / phone support for day-to-day HSE questions.
- Guidance on incident reporting and basic investigations.
- Monthly toolbox talk topics and basic HSE communication support.
- Reminders and guidance on critical checklists and registers.
- Annual review of your HSE file and risk assessment for that operation.
We structure this into two simple levels:
- Plan A – Basic HSE Support: For smaller, lower-risk operations that need structured support, but not deep audit preparation.
- Plan B – Premium Compliance & Audit Support: For higher-risk or audited operations that need more hands-on guidance, file clean-up and regular review before client or NOSA-style audits.
Pricing depends on your number of operations, risk level and how much support you need each month. We’ll confirm this in a tailored quote.
HSE Files
We build operation-specific HSE Files that meet client and legal expectations, while still being usable on site. Each file is structured for your actual work, not copied from another contractor.
- Baseline Risk Assessment for the operation.
- HSE Plan aligned to your work, client and legal requirements.
- Policies and procedures that match your size and type of operation.
- Checklists and registers for daily, weekly and monthly controls.
- Relevant legal references and key regulations.
- Digital file as standard, with the option for printed file on request.
HSE Files can be ordered as part of a new contract/tender, or as part of cleaning up an existing operation before an audit.
Baseline Risk Assessments
A Baseline Risk Assessment (RA) is the backbone of your HSE system. It shows that you understand your hazards and have reasonable controls in place.
- Onsite baseline RA for bigger or higher-risk operations (forestry, harvesting, construction, etc.).
- Remote RA options for smaller or remote teams, using structured questionnaires and photos/videos.
- Risk ratings that are easy for supervisors and workers to understand.
- Controls linked directly to your HSE Plan, checklists and training.
Every RA we do is linked into your HSE File, so you don’t end up with separate documents that don’t talk to each other.
Audit Preparation Package
If you have an upcoming client or NOSA-style audit, we help you move from a messy or incomplete file to a structured, audit-ready HSE system over a defined preparation period.
- Initial review of your current HSE File, RA and HSE Plan.
- Gap list showing what must be fixed before the audit.
- Guidance on which checklists, registers and evidence must be in use.
- Support to update or rebuild key parts: RA, HSE Plan, policies and registers.
- Final “clean-up” and structure check before audit day.
Most audit preparation work is done remotely, with the option for onsite support for contractors in KZN/Zululand when required.
Once-off Extras (Branding & Profile Support)
We also assist with small, once-off HSE admin and branding tasks that support your tenders and client image.
- Basic logo placement and branding on HSE documents and templates.
- A short HSE company profile or “Safety Overview” for tenders and proposals.
- Simple HSE templates (attendance registers, toolbox talk sheets, etc.) aligned with your file.
These extras are normally quoted together with your main HSE File or audit preparation work.

Because every contractor and operation is different, we don’t publish fixed prices on the website. Instead, we look at your type of work, number of operations and the level of support you need.
